Tiger still recovering, plans to play in Open

Tiger Woods won't be playing at this week's Memorial tournament as he is still recovering from arthroscopic knee surgery performed the day after the Masters.  Today he said he is still on schedule to compete at the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in June.  Many believe that, since he is unable to compete this week and will likely not compete before the 2nd major of the year, Tiger has almost no chance to win the Open.  Never bet against Tiger.  I have never witnessed an athlete that has been more in-tune with his body and his game than Mr. Woods.  It is obvious that the man has taken the concepts of conditioning and athleticism to a new level in the sport of golf.  Clearly, this is an understatement.  But even more impressive is his command over the mental aspect of the game.  Every move he makes from now through the 72nd hole of the Open will be precisely calculated.  I see no reaon to risk any complications while exerting oneself over four rounds of golf when the purpose of that tournament would be to tune up for a major.  Even if he is not 100% healthy for the U.S. Open, Tiger will probably be the only one to know it, and he will be prepared.  Even when not 100%, Tiger is still my favorite as long as he is present at his tee time in the first round.  Remember the Masters? A 2nd place finish and knee surgery the next day.  I just can't wait to see Tiger tee it up in round 1 at Torrey Pines.
