So the Seahawks are finally addressing their running back situation.
As much as I love Shaun Alexander for what he has done for the Seahawks and Mo Morris for filling in and helping out, I know they are not that effective anymore.
TJ Ducket is more of a fullback than a running back, so look for him to start at fullback instead of Weaver and get some short yardage carries. Julius Jones has great vision and will probably end up getting about 60% of the carries while in Seattle.
Which leads the focus to Shaun Alexander. It is obvious that he was injured last year, but I am speculating there is a strong correlation between him finally getting that big pay check and his effort. He doesn't take hits and looks like he is scared to get hit. Playing running back in the NFL means you have to get hit. They should release him or try and trade him because he is still valuable, just not effective enough for the Seahawks.
Giving the ball to Jones on most carries, putting in Mo for the 3rd down situations, giving it to Tucket on a 3rd and 1 or a Goal Line play, and switching in Weaver every once in a while on a given set of plays, seems like a good running attack.
Also, if we don't retain Hackett, we should look to draft a WR in the 3rd or 4th round. Branch was suppose to be the savior but can't stay healthy. Engram is great but is in his last years. Burelson needs consistency and is only a real factor on Special Teams. Ben has potential but is still too raw. We need a big game changing reciever that can stretch the defense.
Drafting a tight end in the 2nd round would also be a good choice. We have really never had a good tight end as far as I can remember. Getting one with a 4.6 speed and that has decent blocking would help out this offense. Not to mention getting consistent play on the offensive line.
