Mariners Pitching Continues To Struggle

The Mariners once again lost on Wednesday night, falling to 15.5 games out of first in the A.L. West.  Once again, the pitching struggled, as Miguel Batista failed to lead them to victory.  I have a simple solution to the problem that is our starting pitching, and although it may not solve the entire problem, it can not hurt it.  Start R.A. Dickey.  RA has had two very strong outings in a row out of the bullpen, and in all honestly has looked stronger than any pitcher outside of Bedard/Felix this year. It can't get any worse for the Mariners, as Washburn, Silva and Batista continue to struggle and give up lots of runs early.  R.A. Dickey has proven himself out of the bullpen and deserves a shot at earning a role in the rotation.

  1. And do what with whoever loses his spot in the rotation? Stick him in middle relief? I'm pretty sure Bavasi isn't wanting to pay a middle relief guy $8-9 million.

  2. I agree the Dickey deserves a starting spot. But where do you put him? The lowest paid pitcher is Felix, and you simply cannot put him into the pen.

  3. At this point, do we really care what Bavasi thinks? And although it would be a big contract in the bullpen, can the Mariners really afford to have Washburn/Batista killing us in the rotation every 5 days?
